Welcome Dr. Callum Eastwood!
|
Callum Eastwood, PsyD is a board-certified clinical
psychologist with over twelve years of experience
working with children and
adolescents with emotional, behavioral, learning, and developmental
challenges, and their
families and care providers. He has worked with children,
youth, and families in a variety of service settings, including
community clinics,
school-based programs, day treatment settings, special education
programs, and residential treatment. He approaches the psychological
treatment
of children and their families with an acknowledgement of
the inter-relationship between body and mind and the interplay
between physical and psychological
symptoms and conditions. Additionally, he strongly believes
children must be assessed and treated holistically, acknowledging
the impacts
and needs of the systems in which they exist, especially
family and school. Integrating relational psychotherapy
approaches with mindfulness
practices and adaptive skill building, Dr. Eastwood has
worked extensively with issues of anxiety disorders, trauma,
impulse control disorders/ADHD,
mood disorders, and social/behavioral concerns among youth.
He has a particular passion for the provision of supportive
treatments regarding
stress, burnout, and secondary trauma for parents and caregivers
of children with chronic concerns and special needs.
Dr. Eastwood has an undergraduate degree in Human
Biology from Stanford University, and a doctorate in clinical psychology
from
the California Institute of Integral Studies. He has additional
training in psychological
assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with
severe emotional/behavioral disturbances, Dialectical Behavioral
Therapy, mindfulness practices
in psychotherapy, special education consultation, and the
treatment of secondary trauma. Outside of psychological approaches,
Dr. Eastwood has an interest in aromatherapy, acupressure,
and the use of body-centered
practices such as yoga and Tai Chi to address the management
of stress, the impacts
of trauma, and the improvement of impulse control, attention,
and affect regulation capacities.
Dr. Eastwood works as Senior Director of Intensive
and Special Education Services at Lincoln Child Center in Oakland, and
partners
with Whole Child Wellness to provide psychotherapy and psycho-educational
services
for our families. For more information on services or to contact

Join Callum
Eastwood, PsyD, as he provides
parents and caregivers of children with special
needs an introduction and overview of the special

Parents of children with learning, developmental,

without the opportunity for consultation. This workshop will provide
parents with an overview of special education and its applicable laws,
the process of requesting an assessment, the importance of special education
record keeping, and how to work with local district and independent
special education professionals to provide the best services possible
for their children. Dr. Eastwood will discuss parent and student rights
in the special education assessment and plan development process, and
how to best advocate for your child and be an effective IEP team member.
